This weekend’s weather looks promising for the Charlotte area. While rain is in the forecast for the daytime on Saturday, it should clear out in the afternoon for an evening perfect for outdoor events. More of Charlotte’s open air markets are opening this weekend and several new ongoing events will start as well. Check out the list of events below and let me know which one(s) you plan to attend.

April 23-24: Charlotte Comic Book Roadshow, Doubletree by Hilton Charlotte Airport, 10 am – 6 pm. “Comic Book Roadshow is coming to Charlotte this month! We would like to buy your Comic Books (printed before 1980), Sport Cards (printed before 1970), Toys, Video Games, and more. “
April 23: Live Music: Taste of Fort Mill with U-Phonik, Anne Springs Close Greenway, 7 pm.

April 23: Covered Tracks: An Outdoor Murder Mystery (ongoing), Camp North End, 6:30 – 8 pm. “Travel back to 1937 and solve the murder of a technology titan, found dead inside the Presidential Car of the train he designed himself. The eight remaining passengers are all well-known figures from high society. Now they are all suspects. One of them is the murderer, but are any of them completely innocent? You be the judge. You and a small group of investigators will hear suspects’ testimony, gather clues and hold your own interrogations. In this immersive, interactive, outdoor experience, you’ll have the chance to interview suspects and explore our unique host sites.”
April 23: Friday Night Popup Market at the Cow, 5 pm – 9 pm. “Friday night at the Cow is where you want to be! Shop from all local artists and vendors every Friday, and munch on delicious grub from a rotating list of food trucks, all while enjoying your favorite brews from Armored Cow. Join us, we would love to see your smiling eyes from behind your masks!!”
April 24: Waxhaw Farmers Market, Saturdays 9 – 12pm (ongoing). “Fresh local produce, meat, goat cheese, and eggs, fresh cut flowers and plants, baked goods and beverages, hand crafted items, sauces, jams, jellies, and pickled times.”
April 24: Birdsong Earth Day Little Sugar Creek Clean Up, Birdsong Brewing Co., 9:45 am – 1 pm. “This is a fun volunteer opportunity for all ages and a chance to bond with the Birdsong crew and many other members of the brewing community! Volunteers will be rewarded handsomely w/ complimentary coffee beforehand, pizza, and prizes in a fun after-party on the Birdsong patio! Hope you can join!”
April 24: Annual Spring Festival, Rocky River Vineyards, 12 – 6 pm. “Food trucks, local craft artisans and vendors, DJ, wine and wine slushies.”
April 24: The 2021 Charlotte Smoke Off, The Unknown Brewing Company, 2 – 7 pm.
April 24: Huntersville Jazz Festival, 5 – 8 pm. “Pre-Registration is required as space is limited to only 25 tables. Your $20 reservation serves as your table holder as well as a $20 OFF coupon to the food truck. Tables are 6ft rectangles that fit 4-6 people. Sign up as one person and enter the quantity of people attending with your family. Alcohol vendors be also on site for adult patrons. Please be sure to drink responsibly to ensure a safe environment and let’s enjoy some jazz!”
April 24: Come See Me Drive In Fireworks Show, Rock Hill, SC, 8 – 9 pm. “The Festival ends with a BANG! Join us at Winthrop Coliseum (South Parking Lot) for a Drive-In Only Fireworks show! Cars can start parking at 8pm, and fireworks will be shot off at 9pm sharp. Tune in to the WRHI radio to listen to the Festival’s soundtrack as you watch the fireworks from your car. No tailgating is allowed this year, please remain in your car and enjoy the bright lights and big booms!”
April 25: Matthews North End Cruise In, 1 pm – 4 pm (ongoing). “This fun little gathering goes down every last Sunday afternoon of the month. Yes, finally something to do on Sunday afternoon! Bring a chair – bring the family! Prize drawings and more! All rides are invited and encouraged. A quiet, laid back atmosphere in the classic architect design of the Matthews North End community! Open to family and friends of the cruisers. Be Bop and classic music in an outdoor patio setting. Sit back and enjoy a pizza or an ice cream dish while watching all the people viewing the rides! ALL rides invited – Vintage. Classics, Stock, Custom, Trucks and more! Bikes invited too! Clubs Invited! Come early for the best spots!!”
