Hi friends! A few weeks ago, we were hunting down a low key seafood option near Charlotte. After a little searching, we decided to pay a visit to Full Moon Seafood and Oyster Bar located in Concord, North Carolina. This family-owned restaurant originated in Atlantic Beach, NC and has expanded over the years to its current six locations around North Carolina. Legend has it, the owners continue to select their fresh seafood themselves and offers new fresh options weekly.
Full Moon Oyster Bar Calamari
During our visit to this “come as you are” restaurant, we were greeted by friendly staff and happy customers. The music in the air spoke to me as I’m a lover of 90’s and early 00’s music. My plus one commented about how cold the beer was and noted a few ice slivers in the brew.
We started out on our adventure by ordering a crab cake and calamari. Our server obviously could see we were starving to death. So, while we waited for our apps, she brought us two small bowls of fresh and creamy cole slaw so we could muster up the strength to eat our appetizers when they arrived. The crab cake was crab heavy with a nice seasoning and perfectly crispy edges. The calamari was lightly fried and was accompanied by a kickin’ sweet chili sauce. Yummy!
Full Moon Seafood and Oyster Bar did not disappoint with the entrees. All portions were huge and freshly prepared. I ordered the snow crab, while my plus one ordered the peel-and-eat shrimp and sausage. All orders were accompanied by endless buttery potatoes that tasted like they had been cooked for hours (Calories be damned…I’m still dreaming about those potatoes).
Despite our full bellies, we HAD to order dessert. Anyone who knows anything about me, knows I love (LOVE) key lime pie. And, the friendly waitstaff basically triple-dog dared me to order some when they claimed their key lime pie was homemade. And, order, I did…two pieces, so I didn’t have to share. Much like Templeton the Rat’s visit to the fairgrounds in the book Charlotte’s Web, I satisfied my gluttonous spirit by enjoying my own slice. Short of licking the plate, I can honestly say Full Moon’s key lime pie was wonderful!!
